Editor Guidelines

Standards and expectations for the JHP Editorial Board.

Shaping the Future of Psychological Research

Editors play a pivotal role in maintaining the scientific rigor and ethical integrity of the Journal of Human Psychology.

Editors are responsible for the fair and timely evaluation of all submissions within their domain of expertise. This guide outlines the key responsibilities and expectations for members of the JHP Editorial Board.

Core Responsibilities
  • Evaluate assigned manuscripts for scientific quality, novelty, and relevance.
  • Select and invite qualified peer reviewers for assigned submissions.
  • Ensure conflicts of interest are identified and managed.
  • Provide constructive, fair, and timely editorial decisions.
  • Uphold confidentiality of all manuscript information.
  • Adhere to COPE guidelines for publication ethics.
Editorial Process

Upon receiving a new assignment, editors should perform an initial evaluation to confirm alignment with JHP's scope. If suitable, the editor identifies at least two independent reviewers, monitors the review timeline, and synthesizes feedback into an editorial recommendation for the Editor-in-Chief.

Communication Standards
  • Respond to editorial assignments within 48 hours.
  • Follow up with reviewers if reviews are delayed beyond the agreed timeline.
  • Communicate professionally and supportively with authors, even when delivering rejections.
