Editorial Policies

Upholding scientific integrity through transparent editorial standards.

Committed to Ethical Excellence

The Journal of Human Psychology (JHP) adheres to the highest standards of publishing ethics, as defined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Our policies ensure fairness, transparency, and scientific rigor throughout the publication lifecycle.

This page outlines the key policies that govern manuscript evaluation, author responsibilities, and editorial decision-making at JHP. All authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to uphold these principles.

1. Peer Review Process

JHP employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process. This means that both the reviewers and authors remain anonymous to each other throughout the evaluation. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent experts in the relevant field of psychological science.

  • Initial screening for scope and quality by the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Assignment to qualified peer reviewers.
  • Authors receive detailed reviewer feedback and an editorial decision.
2. Ethical Compliance

All research involving human participants must be conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. Authors must declare:

  • Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee approval.
  • Informed consent obtained from participants.
  • Adherence to all applicable national and institutional privacy regulations.
3. Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence their research. Reviewers and editors must recuse themselves from handling submissions where a conflict exists. JHP takes all conflict disclosures seriously and investigates any concerns raised.

4. Plagiarism & Originality

JHP uses plagiarism detection software (iThenticate) to screen all submissions. Manuscripts must represent the authors' original work. Proper attribution must be given to all sources, and any content reproduced from other sources requires permission from the original copyright holder.

COPE Membership: JHP follows COPE guidelines for handling allegations of research misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism.
5. Corrections & Retractions

If errors are discovered after publication, JHP will issue an erratum or corrigendum. In cases of demonstrated misconduct or fundamental scientific errors, articles may be retracted in accordance with COPE guidelines.

6. Editor Responsibilities
  • Make publication decisions based solely on scientific merit and relevance.
  • Ensure timely and fair peer review.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts.
  • Address any ethical concerns or complaints promptly and impartially.
