Evaluation criteria: Proposals are assessed based on scientific relevance, guest editor qualifications, feasibility of the contributor network, and alignment with JCAP's scope and audience.
Special issues typically span twelve to eighteen months from proposal approval through publication. Guest editors establish submission deadlines, coordinate peer review schedules, and work with the JCAP team to ensure timely collection completion. Clear milestone planning helps attract contributors and maintain momentum.
The editorial team reviews proposals based on scientific relevance, guest editor qualifications, feasibility of the contributor network, and potential impact on pediatric mental health practice. Strong proposals clearly articulate the need for the collection and demonstrate capacity to attract quality submissions within proposed timelines.
We welcome proposals addressing emerging therapies, underserved populations, digital interventions, school-based programs, cultural considerations in child psychiatry, and other topics advancing pediatric mental health. Novel methodological approaches and interdisciplinary perspectives strengthen proposals.
Guest editors recruit contributors, manage the peer review process with journal support, ensure quality and coherence across submissions, and contribute an introductory editorial contextualizing the collection. The JCAP editorial team provides infrastructure, peer reviewer suggestions, and production support throughout.
