What is a Special Issue?

Special issues are curated collections of articles addressing specific themes, emerging topics, or timely challenges in child and adolescent mental health. Guest editors recruit expert contributors, oversee peer review, and shape content that advances understanding in their area of expertise. Special issues typically span twelve to eighteen months from proposal approval through publication. Guest editors establish submission deadlines, coordinate peer review schedules, and work with the JCAP team to ensure timely collection completion. Clear milestone planning helps attract contributors and maintain momentum.

Proposal Evaluation

The editorial team reviews proposals based on scientific relevance, guest editor qualifications, feasibility of the contributor network, and potential impact on pediatric mental health practice. Strong proposals clearly articulate the need for the collection and demonstrate capacity to attract quality submissions within proposed timelines.

Thematic Focus Areas

We welcome proposals addressing emerging therapies, underserved populations, digital interventions, school-based programs, cultural considerations in child psychiatry, and other topics advancing pediatric mental health. Novel methodological approaches and interdisciplinary perspectives strengthen proposals.
