Biography
Edith Bougouma is a Senior Researcher at INSP, Ouagadougou, Kadiogo, Burkina Faso, where she conducts research in genetics, human biology, and molecular biology with a focus on malaria. Her work encompasses investigations into structural variation of red blood cell invasion receptors, the genetic determinants of anti-malarial acquired immunity, and the protective roles of hemoglobin variants against Plasmodium falciparum parasitemia. She has contributed to major clinical trials evaluating malaria vaccines, primaquine safety in glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficient populations, and novel interventions such as ivermectin for malaria transmission prevention.
