JOM is committed to ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent high-quality research from reaching publication. We offer partial APC waivers for authors from World Bank-classified low-income countries and consider requests from authors facing genuine financial hardship. Waiver decisions do not influence editorial assessment or acceptance decisions.

Many universities and research institutions maintain open access publishing funds specifically designed to cover article processing charges. Contact your library or grants office to inquire about available support. JOM provides documentation and invoices formatted to meet institutional requirements for reimbursement or direct payment.

Authors affiliated with institutional or individual JOM membership programs receive discounted or waived APCs according to their membership tier. Membership provides predictable publishing costs and supports ongoing research programs in obesity medicine.

Upon acceptance, authors receive an invoice with payment instructions. Payment is due before article production begins. We accept payment through multiple methods to accommodate international authors and institutional billing.

APCs are quoted in US Dollars and are subject to annual review. Any changes to fees apply only to manuscripts submitted after the effective date of updates. Authors with manuscripts already under review continue under the fee structure in place at submission time.

Common questions about APCs include timing, institutional payments, and waiver eligibility. Payment is due after acceptance. Institutional billing is supported with appropriate documentation. Waiver requests should be submitted at the time of manuscript submission or immediately upon acceptance.

After acceptance and APC payment, your manuscript enters the production workflow. Our production team delivers professional copyediting within one week, followed by author proof review. Final publication typically occurs within two to three weeks after proof approval.

Many research funders include publication costs in grant budgets. JOM provides documentation to support grant reporting and reimbursement requests. If your funder requires specific invoice formatting or compliance statements, contact our editorial office.

JOM maintains complete transparency in our fee structure. There are no hidden charges, submission fees, or page limits that trigger additional costs. The APC is the only charge associated with publishing your accepted manuscript. Editorial decisions are made independently of payment status.
