Editorial Policies
JNRT maintains rigorous editorial standards to ensure integrity, quality, and transparency in neurology and neuroscience publishing.
Commitment to Publishing Excellence
The Journal of Neurological Research and Therapy is committed to upholding the highest standards of editorial integrity and ethical publishing in neuroscience. Our policies ensure fair treatment of authors, rigorous peer review by qualified neurologists and neuroscientists, and transparent processes that serve the neurology research community. We adhere to industry best practices established by organizations including COPE, ICMJE, and WAME.
These policies guide all aspects of manuscript handling from initial submission through final publication. Authors, reviewers, and editors share responsibility for maintaining the integrity of the scientific record and ensuring that published neurology research meets community standards for accuracy and reproducibility.
All submitted manuscripts undergo rigorous peer review by experts in neurology, neuroscience, and related fields. JNRT uses single-blind peer review, where reviewer identities are confidential but author identities are known to reviewers. This approach enables honest critical assessment while allowing appropriate contextualization of neurological research findings.
Reviewer Selection
Reviewers are selected based on expertise in the specific neurological condition or research area, absence of conflicts of interest, and availability to provide timely reviews. The editorial team identifies appropriate neurologists and neuroscientists using publication databases and editorial board expertise.
Review Criteria
Reviewers assess scientific rigor, methodological quality, novelty, significance, reproducibility, and appropriateness of conclusions. Neurology manuscripts must meet all criteria to be considered for publication in the journal.
JNRT follows ICMJE guidelines for authorship. All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to conception, design, data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation, and drafting or revising the manuscript. All authors must approve the final version and agree to be accountable for all aspects of the neurology work.
Corresponding Author Responsibilities
The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal, ensuring all co-authors approve neurology submissions and revisions, managing conflicts of interest disclosures, and responding to post-publication inquiries. Changes to authorship after submission require written approval from all affected parties.
Authors must disclose all financial and non-financial interests that could influence, or be perceived to influence, their neurological research. This includes funding sources, industry relationships, consulting arrangements, stock ownership, patents, and personal relationships. Reviewers and editors must recuse themselves from decisions involving conflicts of interest.
Research involving human subjects requires institutional review board approval and informed consent as appropriate for clinical neurology research. Animal studies in neuroscience require institutional animal care and use committee approval and humane treatment. Authors must include ethics statements in manuscripts confirming ethical conduct of research.
Authors are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of submitted data including neuroimaging and electrophysiological data. Fabrication, falsification, and inappropriate image manipulation are serious misconduct that will result in rejection or retraction. JNRT uses plagiarism detection software to screen neurology submissions.
JNRT publishes corrections for errors that do not affect interpretation of results. Retractions are issued when errors invalidate findings or when misconduct is confirmed. All corrections and retractions are linked to original publications and clearly labeled.
