Vascular Bundles

Vascular bundles are specialized structures in plants that are responsible for transporting water, nutrients and other materials throughout the plant's body. They are composed of two types of cells: Xylem and Phloem, which are arranged into a bundle of several vascular tissues. Xylem serves the plant's needs for water and mineral nutrients by transporting them from the roots up to the other parts of the plant, while Phloem transports carbohydrates, hormones, and other substances produced in the leaves down to other parts of the plant to be used for growth and development. Vascular bundles are essential for the proper functioning of plants and are therefore, vital for the production of food.
