Interstitial Fluid

Interstitial fluid is a bodily fluid found in the spaces between cells of the body. It functions to bring nutrients, oxygen and immune system cells to tissues and to help regulate temperature and water balance. It is also important in wound healing, as it helps facilitate the movement of white blood cells to the site of infection. Interstitial fluid plays a role in various disease states, and can be used diagnostically to gain insights into patients' health. Additionally, its presence can be used to detect cancer cells in the body, as cancerous cells release compounds that lead to an increase of interstitial fluid in the surrounding area.
