Protein Modification

Protein modification is the process of adding chemical groups to proteins to alter their structure and function. It is an important tool used to study the role of proteins in living organisms, including humans. Through protein modification, scientists can adjust protein activity to study its effects on cells, tissues, and organs. This research can help diagnose and treat diseases, as well as develop new drugs for various medical conditions. Protein modification can also be used to improve food production by creating proteins with improved stability, solubility, and taste. Additionally, it can be used to create enzymes to help with biotechnological processes, such as the production of biofuels, medicines, and novel materials.
