Developmental Biology

Developmental biology is the branch of biology that studies the process of how complex organisms develop from a single cell. It involves the study of how cells divide, differentiate and grow to form organs and tissues. It seeks to explain the mechanisms and principles behind the development of organisms from conception to adulthood. Developmental biology has many important applications, including the understanding of human development and disease, testing of new drugs, and aiding in the conservation of endangered species. Furthermore, the study of developmental biology can provide new insights into evolutionary processes and uncover the genetic mechanisms underlying complex traits.
