Biography
Rand Hafidh is affiliated with Baghdad University, Iraq, where research focuses on microbiology, virology, and oncology with emphasis on natural products and pathogen characterization. Notable contributions include investigations into the antiviral and anticancer properties of natural compounds such as mung bean sprouts and Brassica oleracea, as well as studies on bacterial and fungal pathogens including highly resistant strains and the role of Streptococcus gallolyticus in colorectal carcinogenesis. Research extends to molecular and immunological mechanisms underlying disease processes, including asthma severity markers and bladder cancer tumor markers in schistosomal versus non-schistosomal contexts. The most-cited publication, "Isolation, optimization, and redesigning of phages of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus from clinical hospital isolates in Baghdad" (2024), reflects ongoing work on phage therapy for antibiotic-resistant infections.
