Biography
Dr. Jian Zhao is a Professor at Hunan Agricultural University in Changsha, China, where his research focuses on plant metabolism, ion transport, lipid metabolism, signalling, and crop traits. He received his PhD from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College Institute of Materia Medica and has published over 42 indexed articles. His most-cited work, "Exploring plant metabolic genomics: chemical diversity, metabolic complexity in the biosynthesis and transport of specialized metabolites with the tea plant as a model" (2020), has received 169 citations. Dr. Zhao's research contributions span phospholipase D signaling, membrane transport mechanisms, and specialized metabolite biosynthesis in model and crop plants, including pioneering studies on MATE transporters in flavonoid sequestration and cation/proton exchangers in stress responses.
