Changes in Orthopedic Surgery at the Community Level
Abstract:
This perspective outlines how community orthopedic services adapted to shifting demands and constraints. It discusses scheduling, triage, infection control, and telemedicine adoption, and proposes metrics to track access and outcomes during system changes.
The Innermore Ossein- Enchondroma
Abstract:
Preface Frequently, benign bone tumours are an incidental discovery wherein clinical symptoms are contingent to tumour location and magnitude and manifest as localized pain, swelling, skeletal deformities or pathologic fracture. Radiographic imaging is a cogent methodology of discerning the neoplasms.
Lennert Lymphoma (lymphoepithelioid lymphoma) with Extensive Necrosis: A Case Report
Abstract:
Lennert lymphoma (lymphoepitheloid lymphoma) is an extremely rare variant of peripheral T-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified. Here we report a case of Lennert lymphoma diagnosed in a 57-year-old woman. She had a three-year history of waxing and waning lymphadenopathy with a rapid increase in size in the past four months before presentation. A needle biopsy and a fine needle aspiration were non-diagnostic due to extensive necrosis. The patient underwent a right neck lymph node excisional biopsy which showed the lymph node architecture was effaced by numerous and sometimes confluent clusters of epithelioid histiocytes and infiltration of small lymphocytes. Extensive necrosis was present. Immunohistochemical stains revealed a mixed population of B- and T-cells with the T-cells showing diminished T-cell markers CD3, CD5, and CD7. Flow cytometric analysis detected a small population (7% of total lymphocytes) of CD4-positive T-lymphocytes with loss of CD3, CD5, and ...

Palliative Care for Cancer Patients and their Relatives in Dutch Community-Based Psychosocial Support Centers (CBPSCs)
Abstract:
Community-based psychosocial support centers for cancer patients and their relatives (CBPSCs), developed in the Netherlands, offer easily accessible contacts with fellow patients and support by trained volunteers. We studied the characteristics of visitors of CBPSCs, which palliative support they need and receive, and how satisfied they are with this support. The role of 20 CBPSCs was explored in semi-structured interviews among 34 visitors with regard to their contacts with CBPSCs on palliative care (study 1). Additionally, in 25 CBPSCs, 701 visitors filled out a web-based questionnaire about their experiences with the palliative care (study 2). Within this second study, 25 coordinators of ...

The Spiritual Health Services in the Face of the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Hybrid Study
Abstract:
COVID-19 as an infectious disease, and deadly biological crisis, threatens the bio-psycho-social- spiritual health of the people. Spiritual health from the perspective of Islam, means having a sound heart, living in the present time with sense of peace, security, patience and gratitude, safe from the fear and anxiety of future, grief and regret for the past events. It affects other dimension of health. This study was conducted to investigate the spiritual health services in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic in a Muslim society. This qualitative study was conducted from March 1, 2020 to the end of May 2020 in Tehran by using the Schwartz and Kim's hybrid model concept analysis with a deductive / inductive analysis approach, in three stages: 1- Theoretical review of religious and scientific evidence,...
Successful Aging, Social Isolation, and COVID-19: Do Restrictions Help or Hinder?
Abstract:
Aging, a commonly accepted time period of declining heath has been shown to vary in terms of its impact on function and independence. This mini review examines the current impact of COVID-19 on the goal of ‘successful aging’, a conceptual model and outcome variable deemed desirable, but hard to attain. Peer reviewed articles published between March 1 2020 and April 15 2021 focusing on ‘successful aging’ and COVID-19 secondary impacts, as located in the PUBMED data base were specifically sought. Despite a lack of consensus on the concept of ‘successful aging, and whether this can be achieved or ...
An Algorithm to Predict the Possible SARS-CoV-2 Mutations
Abstract:
An algorithm to determine the possible mutations that can occur in the S protein responsible of the Covid-19 in humans is designed. To do that, nine tridimensional sequences available in the Protein Data Bank similar to the initial strain sequenced in Wuhan (December 2019) are identified. The conditions driving this potential mutation are: (1) an accumulated number of mutations greater than (or equal to) 5 in each position; (2), a cumulative value of the different variations of Gibbs free energy less than -2.0 Kcal/mol; and (3), a squared fluctuation greater than 1.6 Å obtained according to calculations for normal mode analysis based on anisotropic network models (ANM) after averaging the first 20 vibration modes. The result is that 491 positions can mutate, while 424 positions did not provide any mutation. Finally, the results reveal that there are mutations that cannot be predicted, so more studies are needed to determine why they are present in t...
Study of the Consciousness Energy Healing Treatment and It’s Effect on the Isotopic Abundance Ratio of Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)
Abstract:
Ascorbic acid is a water-soluble vitamin (Vitamin C) essential for both the plants and animals for the metabolic process. In this study, the liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) analytical technique was used to characterize the structural properties and isotopic abundance ratio to evaluate the effect of the Trivedi Effect®-Consciousness Energy Healing Treatment on L-ascorbic acid compared to the control sample. The ascorbic acid sample was divided into control and treated parts. Only the treated part received the Trivedi Effect®-Consciousness Energy Healing Treatment remotely by a well-known Biofield Energy Healer, Mahendra Kumar Trivedi. The control and treated samples showed a chromatographic peak at retention time (Rt) 1.8 minutes exhibited the deprotonated molecular ion peak at
