Iodometric Determination of Neutral Amino Acids Using Potassium Iodate
Abstract:
In this work, we have reported a simple, cost effective and reliable method for the determination of neutral α-amino acids iodometrically by making use of potassium iodate. This volumetric method determines amino acids instantly, thereby greatly reduces the time of determination.
Clinical Use of Peptide-Based Formula (Peptamen Junior®, Nestle) in the Paediatric Population
Abstract:
There is limited published data describing the characteristics of the paediatric population prescribed semi elemental formulas. This retrospective observational audit aimed to describe the characteristics of the paediatric patients who have been prescribed a hydrolysed whey protein, medium chain triglycerides (MCT) based formula, Peptamen Junior® and the nutritional outcomes. A retrospective observation audit was completed on a cohort of patients that was prescribed a semi elemental formula between 2016 and 2019 from a single tertiary paediatric medical centre. Data variables were collated such as patient characteristics, indications and modalities of administration, duration and tolerance to the fo...
Removal of Neutral Red from Aqueous solutions usingSr2CaBO5.5 (B= Nb+5& Ta+5)
Abstract:
Two samples of the defectdouble perovskites with general formula Sr2CaNbO5.5 and Sr2CaTaO5.5 were synthesized and their cap abilities in the removal of neutral red dye investigated. Both samples have faced cubic perovskite-type structure in space group
Inferior Turbinate Surgery: Difficulties Between the Decision-Making and the Selection of Proper Technique
Abstract:
The inferior conchae have important role in the maintenance of nasal airflow via providing the nasal valve mechanism but increase of inferior turbinate bulk may result in significant nasal obstruction. Therefore, this may need further surgical intervention to deal with these bulky conchae but it is very necessary to balance between the mechanical as well as the functional patency of the nose. Thus, through this surgery it become difficult to decide whether the patient is a candidate for surgery and which technique is suitable for that particular patient. Two- thousands three- hundreds and six patients aged 3-65 years of hypert...
Principles and Constants of the Golden Proportion as a Criterion in Donosological Diagnostics of the Functional States of The Body and in the Assessment of the Probability of their Changes
Abstract:
A theoretical paper proposes applications of golden proportion principles to physiological diagnostics. It outlines proposed metrics and discusses validation needs and limitations.
Osteoarthritis and Frailty: Associations, Relevance, and Counter Solutions
Abstract:
Many older adults, including those who have acquired painful disabling osteoarthritis of one or more joints may be frail rather than obese as is often reported. Those older adults who are frail may acquire osteoarthritis in turn if they encounter excess joint stresses and injury. This report sought to examine what has been published to date on both of these debilitating health states, namely osteoarthritis and frailty. Reviewed were relevant articles published in ACADEMIC SEARCH COMPLETE, PUBMED, WEB OF SCIENCE, SCOPUS and GOOGLE SCHOLAR regardless of time period but that focused on osteoarthritis and frailty related topics. The focus was on ascertaining how these two conditions might int...
Evolution of the Solid Human Tumor Cells Properties in Various Experimental Systems in Vitro
Abstract:
Human malignant cell models which reflect the structural and physiological complexity of tumor tissue are of great importance for preclinical research in oncology. Spheroids/tumoroids derived from solid tumors are of great interest as cellular models mimicking the first vascular-free growth phase of a tumor node. The fact of the identity between artificially created tumor multicellular aggregates and the real tumor tissue, however, needs to be specified, described and validated in order to see how closely the spheroids are biologically similar to the malignized tissues in vivo compared to the monolayer cell cultures traditionally used. We present here a comparison study of the characteristics of solid tumor cells of different histogenesis (melanomas, soft tissue sarcomas and bone sarcomas,...
An Uncommon Complication of Multiple Myeloma in a Post Bone Marrow Transplant patient–Plasma Cell Pleocytosis
Abstract:
This case report describes plasma cell pleocytosis occurring after bone marrow transplantation for multiple myeloma. The authors outline clinical presentation, cerebrospinal fluid findings, and differential diagnosis, emphasizing the need to consider hematologic relapse or CNS involvement in post‑transplant patients with neurologic symptoms. Management considerations and follow‑up strategies are discussed.
Cytokine Profiling in COVID-19 Patients in a Tertiary Hospital in Saudi Arabia; the Pre-Storm Phase
Abstract:
As COVID-19 immunomodulation has been a part of interest for studies, it has been found that severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is associated with hyper-inflammatory response and increased levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-10 (IL-10). This can progress to cytokine storm syndrome and eventually development of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA) is a protein that is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. Monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP1) is a small cytokine that belongs to the CC chemokine family. Interferon gamma-induced protein 10 (IP-10) is a protein secreted by several cell types in response to Interferon-Gamma (IFN-γ). All of these have roles in the immune response and eventually development of a cytokine storm...
The 3cs- CULTURE- CONFLICT- CHANGE, Educational Organizations Downfall If Unaddressed: A Reflective Paper
Abstract:
This reflective paper argues that culture, conflict, and change (the “3Cs”) shape educational organizations’ success. It offers examples and leadership practices to diagnose issues and steer constructive transformation.
