Transgenic Plants

Transgenic plants are plants whose genetic material has been altered or modified by the introduction of a gene or genes from another organism, typically a bacterium, virus, or other plant species. Transgenic plants can be used to introduce desirable traits such as improved quality, pest resistance, or increased yield in crop plants, as well as for research purposes. Transgenic plants are important for agriculture as they can help increase crop yields and reduce the need for pesticides and fertilizers, enabling sustainable food production. They can also be used in the production of valuable pharmaceuticals and industrial chemicals. Transgenic plants can also be used in bioremediation, which involves the use of plants for environmental cleanup and repair.
