Seed Germination

Seed germination is the process by which a seed begins to sprout, produce a plant and grow into a new plant. The process involves breaking dormancy, taking in water, the breakdown of stored food reserves, and the release of hormone signals that induce growth. It is an important process in the life cycle of plants that helps them reproduce and spread their species. Seed germination is also important for human food production as it is the foundation of agriculture. Different environmental conditions, such as temperature and moisture, are needed for successful germination of seeds and growers must adjust their methods accordingly. In addition, seed germination is also used in scientific experiments to study plant growth and development.
