Plant Perception

Plant perception is the ability of plants to detect changes in their environment and respond accordingly. This can include such abilities as recognizing the presence of water or mechanical stimuli, or the ability to sense chemical signals. By studying plant perception, it is possible to gain an insight into the complexity of plant biology which helps in understanding the many roles that plants play in the environment. Plant perception also has a variety of uses from monitoring food production to controlling pests and disease in the agricultural sector. It can also be used to understand how plants respond to their environment and how they may be impacted by climate change.
