Amniotic Fluid

Amniotic fluid is a protective liquid that surrounds a developing fetus in the uterus during pregnancy. It is essential for normal fetal development and acts as a cushion for the fetus against mechanical impacts and temperature fluctuations. Amniotic fluid also helps protect the fetus from infection and provides the necessary nourishment, allowing them to move freely and develop their lungs, muscles, and bones. It is also responsible for the transfer of antibodies from the mother to the fetus, which helps boost the baby's immune system. The amount of amniotic fluid present during pregnancy can be an indicator of the health of the developing fetus, as an abnormal amount may indicate a potential problem. Therefore, regular monitoring of amniotic fluid levels is essential for a healthy and successful pregnancy.
